    1. Ever since Shakespeare in Love won, I’ve been kind of turned off of the Oscars. It’s probably the case that a producer could always buy the win, but some years it just seems that the best movie wins. I wish the quiz had the actual nominees to see what the movies were up against, just to see what the rest of the field was.

      1. Yeah, “Shakespeare in Love” (1998) beating “Saving Private Ryan” is often cited as a big upset too. There are a lot of factors that go into the sometimes odd choices, and the promotion certainly plays a role to some extent. Regarding the answer choices, the listed movies were all eligible for the Oscar that year and most were nominees, but I went outside some of the actual nominees to show some of the better movies that were completely overlooked, like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” Thanks for the comment.
