Steven Spielberg’s New Film with “Daniel Day-Lewis” as Obama

White House Correspondents’ Dinner

At the recent annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner M.C.’d by Conan O’Brien, one of the highlights was this short film where director Steven Spielberg announced that after Lincoln (2012), he decided the logical choice for his next movie is Obama, about our current President Barack Obama. In the video Spielberg explains why “Daniel Day-Lewis” was the natural choice for the lead. Pres. Obama shows a good sense of humor here, too, even poking fun at his ears. Check it out.

    Jimmy Kimmel’s All-Star Trailer for “Movie: The Movie 2V”

    Jimmy Kimmel Oprah Winfrey
    After putting together the biggest actors for the biggest fake movie in the fake trailer for Movie The Movie last year, Jimmy Kimmel has done it again. Following the Academy Awards, his late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live featured the trailer for the sequel for the greatest movie never made. The star-studded trailer includes Jessica Chastain, Jude Law, Channing Tatum, Rachel Weisz, Bradley Cooper, Oprah Winfrey, and more. Check it out.

    If that is not enough, Kimmel later presented the behind-the-scenes story of the trailer in “Making of ‘Movie: The Movie 2V.'”

    Do You Remember the 1990s? Microsoft Does.

    Microsoft released a new ad to try to make Internet Explorer cool again with those Firefox, Chrome, and Safari fans. While they may not accomplish that goal, the ad does a pretty decent job of remembering the 1990s. Check it out if you are in the mood for memories and nostalgia.

    Sopranos Diaries

    This weekend, Saturday Night Live took the idea of going back in time from The Carrie Diaries and applied it to the HBO series The Sopranos. Check out what happens when we see the cast from The Sopranos during their high school years in The Sopranos Diaries.

    Are You Ready for 18 More Hobbit Movies?

    Saturday Night Live The Hobbit 4

    After the news came out that director Peter Jackson was splitting The Hobbit into three films, I was among those who were skeptical. Saturday Night Live this week perfectly captured that skepticism by imagining if the director were to split the film into even more parts. Check out the funny video. {June 2014 Update: Unfortunately, the video is no longer available for embedding, but for now you may watch the SNL video for “More Hobbit” on Yahoo.}

    As for me, after seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), I was glad that Jackson made the choice he did. Perhaps I will grow weary of the story by the end of the trilogy, which I did to some extent with Lord of the Rings. But those like me who enjoy the world he has created probably will not mind the fact you get to spend a little more time in Middle Earth. So if you have not yet seen The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, you might want to check it out.
